VELISA WAS BORN FROM A VISION TO TRANSFORM THE SOUTH AFRICAN WINE INDUSTRY AND CELEBRATE THE RICHNESS OF AFRICAN CULTURE THROUGH EXCEPTIONAL WINES.
Amber Ashley James, our CEO first visited South Africa in 2019 and was captivated by its breathtaking landscapes, deep history, and the spirit of its people. Yet as she explored the winelands, she noticed a disconnect: these vineyards are rooted in African soil, yet the atmosphere felt European.
Velisa was created to change that narrative. The South African wine industry has deep roots in a history shaped by slavery and exclusion. Velisa is dedicated to building a more equitable and regenerative future, one that honors both the land and the people who tend it.
Our mission is to craft world-class wines that reflect the true heart of Africa: its land, its people, and its potential. We source grapes from top vineyards across the Western Cape, working with growers who share our commitment to excellence.
Wine is our medium for connection and change, channeling resources and awareness back into communities while showcasing the power and beauty of African craftsmanship.
Soon, Velisa will establish its own wine farm: a home for regenerative agriculture, equitable land stewardship, and meaningful social impact. A place where sustainability, community, and creativity thrive together.

Chenin Blanc
Velisa Chenin Blanc is a vibrant expression of elegance and complexity. With notes of ripe apricot, honey, and balanced acidity, it is complex yet inviting.
The wine is 100% Chenin Blanc grapes sourced from the Overberg region, where cool ocean breezes and sandy soils shape crisp, expressive grapes. The wine is crafted with minimal intervention to let the fruit speak for itself. We sourced from a practicing organic, family-owned farm, reflecting our commitment to authenticity and sustainability.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Velisa Cabernet Sauvignon is a meticulously crafted blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, and 7% Merlot. Sourced from a single vineyard in Stellenbosch—South Africa’s premier Cabernet region—the grapes are hand-harvested to ensure the highest quality.
Aged for 20 months in neutral French oak barrels, this wine allows the purity of the fruit to shine without overwhelming oak influence. It boasts aromas of dark fruit and subtle spice, velvety tannins, and an elegant structure with excellent aging potential.
